The Reading Rooms celebrated TANK Magazine’s 25th Anniversary. Not one space, but a collection of fragmentary places; each one a memory, echoing/referencing (through furni-ture and surface treatments) the environments we are typically drawn to when we read. We read in every conceivable place—on rooftops, in public parks, on crowded streets, waiting in the wings of a school play. Yet we rarely celebrate the power and pleasure of this solitary, deeply personal, yet universal activity. We all have our favourite places to read.

By foregrounding the situatedness of reading (acknowledging that it really does matter where you read) the installation aimed to engage a new generation in the magazine and the printed word more generally. 10 (or so) discrete situations—each one a different place to read.
