Tamara Henderson draws attention to the often unappreciated earth beneath our feet, with a focus on earthworm ecology and the process of decay and transformation in compost soil. Her project reveals humanity’s involvement in global patterns of decomposition, regeneration and metamorphosis.
The exhibition is structured around four archetypes, personified as characters, each with its own material signature, language and structure: The Garden, The Director, Sound and Lights. In an age saturated by the digital Henderson’s work and the exhibition design itself brings us back to materials—to the analogue and hand-made, to process and experimentation. A 16mm film is shrouded in a curved structure utilising dry stacked cob earth blocks and fabric, sculptures are placed on piled earth and cob ‘plinths’.
